Latvian mittens were knit originally on needles varying in size from 0 to 0000 (2 mm to 1.25 mm, 13-16 English). The yarn was sually a fine 2-ply homespun similar to an 8/2 weaving yarn or as fine as a “fingering yarn”. The pattern asks that you find your own gauge with your own needles and yarn and then adjust the graph based on a sizing chart at the back of the book.

The model was knit in white, yellow, orange, red, and navy blue.
