Notes
This small shawl is a fun and simple palette for playing with color and texture. It’s lovely for spring in a crisp linen base, but feel free to substitute any fingering or sport weight yarn you like. Similarly, you could knit it up in one color only, or use a single contrasting color for the thin garter stripes (Color C), or even make every stripe a different color. Also - the given gauge is only important as a predictor of yardage use and an idea of the finished size, so make it your own!
Technical tips When breaking or cutting yarn at color changes, leave about a 4”/10cm tail for weaving in later.
In Section 3, contrast stripes are worked in Color C, ending with a RS row each time. The next row always begins again on the RS - so after you break Color C, you’ll join your next yarn with RS facing. Working on a circular needle enables this, so it’s important to work at least Section 3 on a circular!
When working the mini-picot bind-off, use the cable cast-on technique for casting on stitches, and the chain bind-off technique for binding off - see Special Stitches section.
