This pattern accompanies the Special Topics in Finishing article. I love designing for children as I can indulge in whimsical elements without guilt. I consider the addition of the crochet chains very whimsical. The Lemonade top. uses this same technique. I almost designed pillows as the project for this category, but the little girl outfit won out as it complements the Fashion Framework article as well.

The skirt is worked from the waistband to the hem, which requires a provisional cast on. The pattern specifies completing the waistband by inserting the elastic before working the skirt body. The hem is folded to match the waistband and uses the technique of grafting live stitches rather than binding off and basting it in place.

The crochet chain decoration requires that revere stockinette stitches are placed as a guideline. A chart is provided for these stitches.
