This pattern has been written to use any granny square of your choice (suggested size approximately 6”) to make the detail on the flap.

The pattern uses a belt to make the handle (but could be crocheted instead. You will need a stiff piece of cardboard for a bag base and it would be preferable to line this item with fabric.

The gauge is unimportant; however you will need to check that the belt used for a handle fits the belt loop holes.
