The perfect starting point for a blanket, this pattern is for the classic and traditional granny square blanket in a super large size.
Skill Level
Beginner: A great starting project, the basic granny square is an easy pattern to learn. The pattern uses only the basic crochet stitches.
Yarn
Stylecraft Special DK:
14 colours/15 balls (1 ball of each for the blanket, 1 extra in the border colour):
1005 - Cream
1019 - Cloud Blue
1020 - Lemon
1026 - Apricot
1029 - Copper
1034 - Sherbet
1065 - Meadow
1067 - Grape
1080 - Pale Rose
1081 - Saffron
1099 - Grey
1240 - Soft Peach
1032 - Denim (Border)
1820 - Duck Egg
Or approximately 4,500 yards of your own choice of DK yarn.
This pattern can be made in any weight of yarn. Just use the appropriate hook size and remember that your yardage requirements will vary.
