With distinctive shaping and “sock-style” finishing at the crown, the Graff hat has a contemporary, flattering shape. The panels of moss stitch and bold braided cables in Graff are accentuated in Peerie, a worsted-spun fingering-weight yarn of 100% Merino wool.

Construction

This hat is worked circularly from the bottom up.

Yarn

• 2 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Peerie (100% American Merino Wool; 210 yards/50 grams)
• Photographed in colors Nori (Beanie), Marigolds (Slouchy), and Admiral (Slouchy)

Yardage

• 290 (340) yards of fingering weight wool yarn

Gauge

• 32 stitches and 44 rounds = 4” in Moss Stitch with size A needle(s), after blocking
• 38-stitch cable panel from Graff Chart measures 3½“ wide with Size A needle(s), after blocking

Needles

Size A (for Main Fabric)

• One 16” circular needle and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs)* in size needed to obtain gauge listed
• Suggested Size: 3.25 mm (US 3)

Size B (for Ribbing)

• One 16” circular needle two sizes smaller than size A
• Suggested Size: 2.25 mm (US 1)

Finished Dimensions

• Beanie (Slouchy): 19¾" [50 cm] circumference; 8¾ (9½)" [22 (24) cm] length
