Gotha (‘guh-hah’, Irish meaning flourish, gesture or attitude) is a simple shawl designed with two simple objectives; show off a very busy variegated yarn, and have fun with tassels!

Gotha is a triangular shawl, beginning with just a few stitches, working in garter stitch stripes, and increasing the stitch count as the shawl progresses. Columns of slipped stitches worked in one colour only are introduced as you work. These columns draw the eye to the multiple tassels attached to each point, and along the cast of edge of the shawl. The shawl is finished with an applied I-cord bind off and edging.

Skills required:
Knit stitch, purl stitch, slip stitch, kfb increase, kt2tog decrease, picking up stitches, icord edging.
Optional: making tassels.

Updates / Errata
An error was spotted in Row 18 of the pattern; it should have advised to P2 tbl (instead of K2 tbl). I’ve also added the tassel tutorial. This includes basic tassel making instructions, and specific details about the size of the tassels in this sample. The most recent pattern files end with the date 19.04.
