A quick-knit accessory using just one ball of Rowan British Sheep Breeds chunky yarn. A simple 4-stitch lace/mesh pattern which is repeated across all rows, with garter stitch top and bottom. Knitted flat in one piece, then seamed up the back to make a tubular cowl. Alternatively, close the cowl with some buttons, and you may also add additional decorations.

The sample was knitted using Rowan British Sheep Breeds chunky, but you may use any chunky yarn which knits up well on 7mm needles. I knitted a further sample using Debbie Bliss Donegal Tweed chunky, which turned out really well. Around 100 metres of yarn is required for each cowl, but you may increase/reduce the number of rows in your cowl to suit yarn availability.

Finished dimensions are approx 22 inches by 9 inches as a flat piece, and 11 inches by 9 inches as a tubular cowl.
