“Goes is a neighborhood originally inhabited by poor immigrants and considered to be the birthplace of the tango. It is named after the two Goes brothers, important figures in the early days of Uruguay’s cattle industry. There are several historically signifigant buildings in Goes which are currently undergoing renovation under the auspices of the municipal government.”
