This is a comprehensive photo tutorial for this pattern.

This project is for the adventurous crocheter who is willing to push the boat out in appearance and in construction. These magical gloves will keep your hands warm and fanciful all winter long.

The wrist warmers are created using different coloured yarns. The layers of “scales” are created using crocodile stitch which change colour for every new layer of scales. The wrist warmers start and finish off with a ribbed edging using front/back post double crochet. The wrist warmers also have a designated thumb divide and not just a hole in the side for thumb access.

The pattern gives instructions for a colour change every new layer of scales (which are constructed over two rounds). There are 13 colour changes in this pattern, with 12 different colours used. However, it is not necessary to change colours every two rounds. It is possible to use one colour throughout, or to use a variegated yarn and not to weave in so many ends.

US Terminology used throughout this pattern.

Instructions are in one size, but alternatives sizing options are mentioned in the pattern.
Measurements: approximately 20cm

The patterning of the stitches is worked over a multiple of 6 stitches, so to work a smaller pair, the original starting chain needs to be 6 stitches smaller. Alternatively, if a larger/wider pair of warmers is required, work a further 6 stitches more on this starting chain.
