A cotton-and-linen blend wrapped in a bit of bling takes this capelet out of the cedar chest and into the limelight. Surprisingly at home with jeans, this piece by Lily M. Chin features a nest of mesh that grows out into fans that embrace your shoulders. (Interweave)
Yarn: S. Charles Collezione Tigris (64% organic cotton, 28% linen, 8% metallic; 103 yd [94 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): #04 rose, 6 balls. Yarn distributed by Tahki Stacy Charles.
Hook: Size E/4 (3.5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: One 5/8” button, glass toggle (available at gbhughes@bellsouth.net); stitch markers (m).
Gauge: One ch-5 mesh = 1” and 2 mesh rows = 1” steam-blocked and hung, 1 fan-lace rep = 3” wide and 4 fan-lace rows or one rep = 2” steam-blocked and hung.
