A group of cats is referred to as a glaring, or clowder. Though I have had many affectionate cats over the years, there were definitely times when I spotted them glaring at me! These socks were made to remind me of my little runt, Peanut, and coordinate with my Reversible Kitty Cowl.

These socks were designed to showcase Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts’ line of feline yarns. Be sure there is plenty of contrast between your MC and CC with no overlap. When worn with Mary Jane style shoes, the cats on the top of the socks can be seen peeking out to remind you of your pet while you’re away at work or on vacation.

This pattern is written for 72-st toe-up socks with a gusset and heel flap. The gauge is 9 spi, 12 rpi. in stockinette st. Larger needles are suggested for the stranded section so the colorwork isn’t too tight on the leg. Beaded eyes are optional, and would require dental floss, a small crochet hook, or other tool of your choice to add them to the stitch before knitting the designated stitch.

The designer used 271 yds/ 248 m/ 62g MC and 88 yds/ 80 m/ 20g CC for socks with a 9” foot length and about 6” leg length.
