No shaping, no purling, this ultra simple scarf shows that you can make lovely things using only the knit stitch and flat knitting. Colours are changed using a “swing needle” style, a simple technique that takes advantage of circular needles, so each colour is only worked one row at a time.

The Glacial Slide Scarf is worked flat length-wise in a modified garter stitch. Each garter row is knit twice by sliding stitches across a circular needle to work again with contrast colour, before turning work to repeat with each color. Includes optional two-colour fringe.

Stitches used: Knit.

Yardage
Super bulky yarn in two colours; 132 yd / 120 m each C1 and C2.

Shown in Knit Picks Mighty Stitch Super Bulky (affiliate) (80% Acrylic, 20% Superwash Wool; 44 yards/100g), Mint and White.

Substitution Notes
Look for a super bulky yarn that knits up to 2.5 sts/inch on 10mm (US 15) needles. You may also combine two or more strands of lighter weight yarn to make up the gauge. Swatch for the gauge and fabric drape you want.

Techniques
Knit stitch, swing knitting (sliding sts to other end of needle), long tail bind off (instructions included).
