The Gia Mitts have all the qualities that I love in a textured mitt pattern: twisted knit stitches, knit-purl patterning, and an easily-memorizable motif that results in something elegant and functional. Fingerless mitts are the accessory I reach for first during the chilly months, and this quick knit adds a little more warmth to my hand knit wardrobe. This is the sister pattern to my Gia Socks pattern.

This is the perfect pattern for that special skein of sock yarn in your stash, especially those that you may have picked up as a souvenir on your travels or at a fiber festival. You need around 50g of yarn, so it would also work for partial skeins you have in your stash. It is a great option for adventurous beginners and seasoned sock knitters alike!

The pattern is written with charted and written instructions. The Gia Mitts are knit seamlessly from the bottom to the top ribbing.

Yarn
One 100-gram skein of fingering weight yarn.
Suggested yarn:
On the Round Nimble Sock base (85% super wash merino, 15% nylon). 394 yards/ 360 meters / 100g). Sample is knit in the colorway Set in Stone. Many of my test knitters used partial (below 75g) skeins of fingering weight yarn from their stash, so this would be a great way to make use of leftovers!

Suggested Needle Size
US 1 (2.25 mm) needle
Pattern is written with the Magic Loop method, but can easily be adapted for DPNs or 9” circular needles

Gauge
