Gentleman's Under-Shirt
This shirt is really a body stocking made to hug the torso and upper arms smoothly. Extra body length and an off-center placket opening eliminate any waist and neck gaps that would let in the cold. Large underarm gussets and gathered sleeve tops permit maximum horizontal stretch and freedom of movement. Small, flat buttons make the undershirt wearable under a shirt. (Interweave)
Historic pattern was rewritten/interpreted for Piecework by Mary Lycan. Mrs. George Cupples is the married name of the original designer.
