Garter Stitch Baby Bootees
These little slippers can be made very quickly and easily and use very little yarn - perfect for a last-minute gift or treasured heirloom made from superior quality yarn.
They are worked from the bottom up from a traditional cast-on edge, but could easily be made from a provisional cast on with a cast-off seam for extra comfort.
The pattern can be adapted to one colour or with alternative fastenings to suit your taste; I find the straps I photographed are robust and effective, but they would work just as well if 30cm long and with a criss-cross fastening, traditional ballerina style.
Sizing is aimed to suit a baby from birth to walking, in three sizes.
