Ten years ago, my house in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, flooded in an unnamed freak storm, and it was awful. Lost almost everything, AND I was 10 weeks pregnant. The knitting community stepped up in a big way to help out- so many people bought patterns, many of you mailed me yarn to replace what I lost, yarn dyers made special colorways for me- it was all amazing. To say thank you, I’d like to offer 50% off all of my patterns, from now until Wednesday, August 19th. Use coupon code FLOOD. I love knitters (and crocheters!). You’re all incredible.

My kids absolutely love the Netflix show Gabby’s Dollhouse. It has cats, crafts, and a dollhouse, all of which are very popular around here. My oldest asked to be Gabby this past Halloween, and being who I am, I decided to make her costume instead of buy some cheapy garbage from Amazon that would fall apart in two days. I searched high and low for a shrug pattern similar to the one Gabby wears, and I just couldn’t find anything. So, I designed one.

The shrug is knitted in super bulky yarn so it’s a very quick project. If you want to be true to Gabby, use a hot pink chenille yarn. Optional heart-shaped elbow patches and faux drawstrings complete the Gabby look, but you can always leave those off and just knit a cute little hooded shrug.

Note that this pattern uses an unusual increase. It is explained in the pattern, but see this blog post if you want to learn about it before purchasing:
