Fungus Kimono
Description
Fungus Kimono is a feminine oversize drop-shoulder kimono with a wide ribbed band around the neck and down the front pieces. The kimono has a beautiful Moss stitch pattern doubled in height and sleeve edge bands knitted on vertically. You will start out this kimono by knitting a ribbed neckband. After knitting this neckband you will pick up stitches for the yoke in this neckband, and now the neckband will continue as front bands all the way down to the bottom of the body of the kimono. When the body is finished, stitches are picked up around the sleeve edge opening and the sleeve edge band are knitted while at the same time knitted on the kimono by knitting a stitch from the sleeve edge band together with one of the picked up stitches around the armhole opening. The kimono is being knitted back and forth. Since the kimono is knitted top down, it is easy to adjust the length on the body.

Materials
250 (250) 300 (350) 350 (350) 400 g of Pure Silk or Merino from Knitting for Olive (250 m/50 g) held together with 125 (150) 150 (175) 175 (175) 200 Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive (225 m/25 g) or another similar Silk Mohair quality.
The kimono is knitted up in one strand of Pure Silk held together with one strand of Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. The colors are Coal and Licorice.
You will also need 6 stitch markers knitting this kimono – 2 of the stitch markers must be able to open as a safety pin.
Needles
The kimono is knitted in Moss stitch doubled in height knitted back and forth on circular needle 80-100 cm, 4 mm using one strand of Pure Silk and one strand of Soft Silk Mohair.
I recommend double-pointed needles size 3.5 mm for the neckband - you will need 3 needles. I also recommend using 2 circular needles 4 mm – then when having to let stitches rest, you can leave these stitches on your needle while knitting with the other one. But it will also work letting your stitches rest on a thread or a wire for stitches.
Gauge
18 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm on needle size 4 in Moss stitch doubled in the height knitted back and forth.
