You will also need a ribbon in a contrasting colour (50 cm, about 0.5 cm wide - I recycled mine from a boutique shopping bag) to act as a draw string, and contrasting 4 mm beads (30) to be thread on the yarn before starting.

You will be working the purse in rounds, which means you won’t need to cut the yarn! The strap is worked in rows, using a Tunisian knit stitch, but as you will never have more than 4 loops at once on the hook no need for a “real” long-shafted Tunisian hook.
