Frosted Pine Leg Warmers & Yoga Socks by Bilby & Ben

Frosted Pine Leg Warmers & Yoga Socks

This pattern is available for £3.50.

As someone who’s always preferred to go barefoot, winter can be a bit of a challenge!

I’d been looking for some yoga socks for years so I could still feel the ground under my feet without them freezing, but I’d never found any that looked, felt or fitted quite right. So I finally got around to making some of my own, and boy are they perfect!

You can wear them as yoga socks or pull them up above your heel to function as leg warmers.

The pattern is suitable for advanced-beginner / intermediate crocheters as the stitches are all very basic, but the construction takes a bit of focus. That amazing pinecone-like texture is a combination of simple slip stitches and half double crochets.

The leg warmers / yoga socks are worked flat in rows that are turned at the end, and then seamed in one piece. It’s made up of 2 ‘panels’, a top and bottom section, that are worked continually. And the bottom section breaks to create the foot strap.

There’s also a stitch guide and detailed photo tutorial throughout to help demonstrate techniques used, measurement positions and construction methods.

You’ll find the best yarn to use for this project is something with just a little stretch and squish in it like merino wool. I used Debbie Bliss Rialto DK and Sirdar Cashmere Merino Silk DK, which have a beautiful sheen to them and are wonderfully soft to the touch.

This is a made-to-measure pattern so you can achieve the perfect fit without needing to work up a gauge swatch, but it also means you can play around with different yarn weights / hook sizes as desired.

Since it’s made-to-measure (and gauge-less), I can’t give you specific measurements or yardage for your specific piece. But I can tell you that I used less than 100g (232m) in total for mine, measuring approx 11” in length x 8.5” in width.
