Fresh Lilac
A lace rectangle easily transforms into a shrug with the addition of cuffs on the short sides and bands along the top and bottom. Although the cuffs and bands could easily be worked in ribbing, we chose a lace pattern that acts like a rib but that has a more delicate look. The zigzag lace pattern and almost-solid hand-dyed yarn are a perfect match.

Important! In the chart key, S2KP2 should be read as “slip 2 together knitwise, k1, p2sso.” This maneuver is illustrated at the bottom left of page 74. It produces a centered double decrease, used in the edgings.
