This is a great pattern to adapt and personalise. Creating a large knitted item from smaller elements is always the best way to make it achievable, but is also an excellent basis for adding extra colour and differing the stripe pattern to make it truly unique.

If you add extra squares to make the blanket larger, remember that you will need to knit a proportional amount to keep the square shape e.g. instead of 4 x 4 squares (total 16), the next size would be 5 x 5 squares totalling 25, which will in turn require more yarn.
