Free
Free is worked from top to bottom.
First the upper back is worked with increases on both sides to shape the shoulders. Then the piece is continued straight down to the bottom of the armhole.
Stitches are picked up along the shoulders and each side of the front piece is worked separately until the bottom of the neck opening. From here new stitches are casted on and the front piece is then joined and worked down to the bottom of the armhole.
The back piece and front piece are joined, and the body is worked from here on in the round and finished with a twisted ribbing edge.
Stitches are picked up in the armholes and the sleeves are worked in the round from top to bottom and finished with a twisted ribbing edge.
Stitches are then picked up along the neck opening and the neckline is worked in twisted ribbing. The edge is folded down and knit to the wrong side of the work while also binding off the stitches. Finally, a long i-cord is worked to shape the text Free,
which is sewn to the front piece.
Just like in the Empower design, Mie Firring has drawn inspiration from modern women. She experiences a sense of collective strength and potential for change. When we stand together,
we are able to overcome great challenges and transform deeply ingrained perceptions or beliefs. Let this be a call for community, collaboration, and solidarity to achieve something meaningful and transformative.
Alongside the Empower design, Free is a discreet statement piece, and we hope that they can pay tribute to the community and the positive vibes that are underway.
