With this crochet pattern, you can make your own toy lion with moving arms and legs. The pattern covers the whole process from start to finish, illustrated with lots of step-by-step photos, making it easy to follow even for beginner toy makers.

SIZE
19.5 cm (7 2/3”) from head to toe, when crocheted with DK / sport weight yarn and a 2.50 mm crochet hook.
DIFFICULTY
3: Intermediate – includes some less common crochet techniques, small details, and simple shaping.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Crocheting in spiral
- Chain, slip, single, half double and double crochet stitch
- Increasing and decreasing
YOU WILL NEED
- DK / light worsted / # 3 / sport weight yarn.
- For the yellow lion I used Alize ‘Alpaca Royal’, a DK weight wool-alpaca-acrylic blend, 250m (273yd) per 100g (3.53oz). You will need about 55g of yellow (#423) and 20g of brown yarn (#558).
- For the beige lion I used Alize ‘Cotton Gold’, a sport weight cotton-acrylic blend, 330m (361yd) per 100g (3.53oz). You will need about 55g of beige (#67) and 20g of brown yarn (#493).
- 2.50 - 3.00 mm crochet hook (US size 2/C - 3/D).
- Polyester fiberfill, wool, wadding/padding for stuffing.
- 9 mm (3/8”) safety eyes and 12 mm (1/2”) safety nose or buttons, beads, felt etc.
- Two 20 mm (4/5”) and two 16 mm (3/5”) plastic doll joints or safety eyes, or buttons.
- Yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker.
