Fred and Murgatroy
This pattern is for two stuffed toys, Fred and Murgatroy.
Murgatroy is what my son thinks an alien from Mercury would look like.
The body is knit flat, with as little seaming as possible.
Arms and feet are written to be knitted either flat or in the round; the choice is yours.
Gauge and yarn are not terribly important.
Just use a needle a few sizes smaller than recommended on the ball band.
You can use up anything in your stash. What a fun way to do it!
Each toy uses a minimal amount of yarn.
Skills used: stockinette stitch, kfb (knit front and back), ssk (slip slip knit), k2tog (knit 2 together), and p2tog (purl 2 together).
Murgatroy came straight from my son’s imagination, which makes this pair the truest kind of Byrd’s Nest design, born from a child’s idea of what a friend should look like.
Designed by Julie Anderson of The Byrd’s Nest, an early childhood educator with a Master’s in special education and more than 17 years of designing toys made to be loved.
