Frances Herself is an asymmetrical shawl inspired by the English/Scottish artist Frances Macdonald McNair. It is part of my series Authors & Artists.

Knitted mostly in soothing garter stitch, the shawl uses a delicate lace pattern to create bands of colour. The changing bands of colour showcase a stunning handdyed yarn.

The shawl is a nod towards the art Frances and her sister Margaret produced in the early 20th century, yet it has an easy, contemporary feel.

The pattern includes tips on how to modify the size of the shawl and how to make good use of yardage. The pattern is both charted and has written instructions. It is fully tech-edited, contains clear photos, and a schematic.

Yardage breakdown:
Col A: Gray / Assynt Peat (approx. 380m/ 415 yds)
Col B: Magenta / Jewelled (approx 180m/196 yds)
Col C: Teal / Stormy Seas (approx 180 m/196 yds)

Suitable for intermediate knitters.
