Foxglove Shawl
Foxgloves are an eye-catching flower. They stand tall proudly displaying their magnificent blooms. Last year, I watched passerby after passerby stop to admire the ones lining our sidewalk. I was so pleased to find this Wollelfe gradient to help me bring my knitted foxgloves to life!
This shawl has two different body options—a stockinette body or a beaded alternative. Learn something new with the beaded picot bind-off!
Finished Size: approximately 64” wide x 15 deep (162 x 38 cm) after blocking.
Materials:
• Fingering weight yarn, 656 yds/600 m
As shown: Wollelfe Merino Silk (656 yds/600 m), Orchid Flower
• US Size 5 (3.75 mm) 40” (101 cm) or longer circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• 1 mm crochet hook
• 368 6/0 seed beads 138 beads for stem, 230 beads for flower edge. If you choose the beaded body alternative, you will need an additional 116 beads.
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• In addition to wires and pins, you’ll want cotton balls for blocking the flowers along the edge (approx. 50).
Gauge: 24 sts = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette before blocking, 19.5 sts = 4” (10 cm) after blocking
Special thanks to SMotoExpress for developing the beaded body alternative!
