Four 1892 Victorian Laces
From the 1892 book, The Art of Knitting, this set of instructions includes four separate laces - 3 edges and 1 insertion. I’ve taken the original instructions, translated it to more modern written instructions as well as created a lace chart to follow for each one! For one of the lace instructions, one line is particularly tough, so I’ve included both a video link and pictures to illustrate how to knit it.
This lace is worked on the short side, so the more repeats knit, the longer the lace trim becomes. These are very beautiful lace edgings and insertion, and the yarn, needle size, and number of repeats can be altered to make exactly the size of lace trim needed.
