Fountain Fingerless Mitts
Intermediate
Skills needed: Knitting in the round on DPNs, basic decreases, K, YO.
These attractive mitts take one ball of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool XL yarn as written.
If you make them wider or longer you’ll need a second ball.
Pattern includes suggestions for modifying size.
Mitts are worked top down, from the fingers to the cuff, which makes it easy to adjust length.
I had a dream in which all the characters were in Victorian dress and all wearing fingerless mitts. I could only remember what two pairs looked liked when I woke up.
One pair had a Lilly of the Valley lace on the back of the hand, but when I looked it up in my Barbara Walker, the stitch count was too wide.
This textured lace pattern was a good substitute. The fun ripple at the top of the mitt was a bonus!
The way the stitches flow together reminds me of a fountain spray, hence the name.
