Forager
A speedy, chunky knit designed to keep the wind out of your ears, Forager is just the toque to throw on before heading into the woods - or out onto the prairies - this winter. It’s also a great choice for last-minute gift knitting: just one skein of chunky yarn and an afternoon later, you’ve got a lovely cozy present!
This pattern is designed in one size (medium to large, depending on ease), but can easily be adapted for more sizes. If you are using vintage Bernat Softee Chunky, do note that the yarn gauge is very different than the new Softee Chunky and you will need to add three stitches (total count 48) and work your decreases in groups of 8 instead of 9.
Because this hat is a blank slate, feel free to add stripes, colourwork, any kind of embellishment you like! Some techniques may reduce the ease of the pattern (such as fair isle) so try it on as you go to make sure it’s just right.
