Footfall
Footfall
An engaging and deceptively simple piece, which offers an introduction to many of the principles and techniques of charted top-down shawl knitting. By working paired increases at the shawl’s outer edges, as well as on each side of a central spine, two mirrored triangles grow outward at a regular rate to shape the shawl. The expanding fabric is dotted with tessellating motifs which resemble footprints.

Alpaca; 65m / 71yds per 50g skein)

Special techniques
A range of clear tutorials for working yarnovers; understanding triangular shawl construction; working pattern repeats; garter-tab cast on; tinking back; binding off; and blocking lace are linked from the pattern.
