Transform stipey yarns into whimsical colourwork with this easy and highly addictive pattern!
Named after Northern Ireland’s Yarnfolk festival (where I bought the yarn for the sample pair), these socks are as fun as they are functional. The magic is in the slip stitch design, which re-shuffles stripes to create a rustic colourlook effect, while also adding structure to the fabric - helping the socks keep their shape.
Cuff-down construction with short row heels and toes makes for a speedy knit. Try this pattern with striping yarns for the look shown here, or with solid yarns for an interesting textural effect.
Special techniques to be aware of: slip stitch, short rows, Kitchener stitch
