Folded Cowl
This asymmetric cowl configuration caught my attention with both its simplicity and its practicality. The actual knitting simply produces a rectangle, but the way it is sewn into a cowl produces an attractive and very warm kerchief edge in the front and a narrow strip that fits nicely under a jacket or coat in the back. The way it is sewn also means that the initial rectangle is a bit smaller than the body of most cowls. This pattern specifically is worked from corner to corner, both to avoid creating any hard edges and to make sewing the seam as simple as possible.
While the pattern listing calls for DK weight yarn, the sample shown was worked in lace weight mohair. Either works just fine, but I like the lightweight fabric produced by the mohair better, especially since the cowl is worn folded over on itself.
