Foggy Seas Scarf
Named for the Sundara colorway that inspired it, the yarn knew what it wanted to be but I couldn’t find a pattern to fit.
This pattern begins in the middle and is knitted to the ends so that the scallops curve the same direction (down) when worn. There is a photo here where I test-blocked only a portion to show how very different it looks before/after blocking. Even the bumps in the middle are gone now that it is blocked. While knitting, I was not convinced that it would ever flatten out and look like I hoped, but it did!
Gauge is 7 pattern repeats over 5” vertically and one pattern repeat width-wise is approx. 1-3/4” after blocking. Gauge is not critical as long as you like the way your yarn looks - but be sure you have enough yarn if you are using a different gauge.
2009 - I am super excited to write that this pattern/my project won the Sundara Yarn Gallery of Projects contest for the Sock Yarn category in Nov. 2009. whee!
2016 - This pattern was just awarded 3rd place for the 2017 Pattern a Day Calendar contest and will be featured on the cover!
