Fluke Cardigan
The Fluke is a topdown, straight silhouette cardigan.
Start the neckband, which will become collar. With the neckband established, pickup stitches from the edge
to make the upper part of the back with shoulder shaping. Next pickup stitches for each upper front body and knit along the neckband. After joining the left front, back, and right front at the armpits, continue to knit to the hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up from the body to knit round. Short row shaping to the cap of the sleeve makes a natural transition from the shoulder to the sleeve.
For those who knitted the Dew sweater previously, you might already know the comfort of this cardigan.
The gentle shoulder slope created at the back body and the weight of double-knit neckband/collar keeps the straight lines of the front opening without any increase.
This casual cardigan is not only versatile for any style but is also fun to create: long or short, any style of ribs or without ribs, with or without pockets, pockets inside or outside, and single or multi-color yarn of single strand or multiple strands. By knitting sleeves before finishing the body, you can determine how you manage the amount of the yarn you want to use.
So, maybe it is about time to knit your dream yarn or use up your treasured stash?
This pattern provides two types of patch pockets.
