Flower Power Entrelac
Flower Power is an entrelac cowl or scarf, knit flat. Why knit a round cowl flat? To learn all the elements you need to know for any entrelac project, and to avoid a huge game of yarn chicken on a long scarf or loop cowl knit from the side edge! Entrelac looks like it’s woven, but it’s just a lot of squares and triangles, knit one at a time. You’ll want to knit just one more square…
I knit the first sample with Berroco Wizard. This yarn is a hollow chain that is very light weight, despite the bulky label. I highly recommend it for this airy entrelac piece. One ball will make up to 54”/137 cm in length. Knit to the length you like, for a cowl from 20 to 54”, or a 54” scarf.
I’ve knit a second sample with Noro Silk Garden. This loosely plied Aran weight yarn knits up beautifully on a US9, the same size needle I used for the Berroco Wizard. I used two 50g balls for the second sample. (FO photo soon)
Gauge is not critical for this pattern; you’re knitting to get a fabric you like.
If you’re knitting with a denser yarn, you may need an extra ball to get the yardage you need for a long cowl or scarf.
