SIZES
The pattern includes 15 sizes with 1-8 cm/0.5-3” positive ease (see table below for details):
- 5 children sizes: 3-4 (5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12) years (see corresponding bust & height below)
- 10 adult sizes: XS-6XL, or 82-127cm/32-50” bust for an average height of 168 cm/5’6”. The cardigan is built for the classic silhouette with a narrower waist and slightly wider hips than bust.
‘Flower Buds’ is a hip-length cardigan with anatomic fit (incl. raised back, waist & hip shaping and also bust darts for adult sizes) and seamless construction.
You start with the circular yoke knit flat sideways in garter stitch (using short-rows fro shaping and print). You then pick up yoke edge stitches, separate for the body & sleeves, and knit them top-down in the round.
The hem and cuffs are also worked sideways in garter stitch to match and balance off the yoke. You then pick up stitches along the front and work the ribbed button-bands. At the end, all edges are decorated with an I-cord (applied or bind-off).
The pattern also includes guidelines for 2 color-blocking options (or choose your own, of course!). See the schematic in the pattern photos for detailed garment measurements and the two color options.
The print was partially inspired by lovely hats from Woollywormhead. If you would like to use up the scraps and make a matching hat - I highly recommend her Toph pattern & the whole Elementals hat collection.
