Flos Aeternus is an everlasting bouquet made of yarn that never needs watering, never wilts, and never goes out of style. The poppy is a delicate flower that’s hard to preserve, but in the world of yarn and knitting, it comes to life in a new, lasting form. Flos Aeternus is a poetic and recognizable tribute to the poppy interpreted through the art of knitting.

This knitting pattern includes detailed instructions for creating poppies in five different stages: from closed bud to fully bloomed flower.

All elements can be mixed and matched, allowing you to design your own unique bouquet – perfect as a decorative piece or a thoughtful handmade gift. Under materials the different kinds of yarns for all variations of the poppies are listed but please note not every single color is necessary to make a lovely bouquet. Suggested needles: 3,5 mm (60 cm)

Gauge: 16 sts x 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm in Garter stitch for the petals

14 sts x 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette for the sepals and stem

Achieving the correct gauge is not crucial, as all flowers are different.

Accessories: 40-50 cm steel wire (I recommend 2 mm bonsai wire)
