Florality
A little retro, and very eye-catching!
Intarsia was a natural choice of technique for a big graphic design, and is easiest with the front panel as a separate piece. The embroidery embellishment was superfun, and surprisingly easy (templates are included in the pattern). The provisional cast-on allows for tailoring the length at the end. The sleeve stitches are picked up at the shoulder and knit top-down, in the round. Include the cozy turtleneck or make a crew neck.
This design is similar to my On Balance, with all st counts adjusted for the gauge of a different yarn.
Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10) correspond to garment chest measurements:
40¾ (43½, 46, 51) 53¾, 58¾, 61¼ {66½, 69, 71½} inches/
104 (110.5, 117, 129.5) 136, 149, 155.5 {168.5, 175, 181.5} cm
I recommend about 10 inches/ 25.5 cm of positive ease.

Main Color: Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn Highland DK and Silk and Mohair held together. Kits are available from Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn
- Highland DK - 100% wool, 246 yds/ 225 m per 3.53 oz/ 100 g; sample in Driftwood; 5 (5, 6, 6) 6, 7, 7 {8, 8, 8} skeins
- Silk and Mohair - 72% Superfine Kid Mohair/ 28% Silk, 455 yds/ 416 m per 1.7 oz/ 50 g; sample in Charcoal; 3 (3, 3, 3) (4, 4, 4) (4, 5, 5) skeins

Any worsted weight yarns that yield the design gauge can be used without holding two yarns together. Approximately

Motif yarns:
- The flower on the front, worked in a single color, requires 110 yds/ 100 m. Colorway of flower on sample - You Ate All the Raspberry Jam, in Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn Highland DK + silk-mohair
- The center of the flower and small motif on the back require up to 21 yds/ 18 m total. Colorway You’re Golden, in Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn Highland DK + silk-mohair
- Embroidered embellishment front and back required 11 yds/ 10 m of colorway Melancholy Oysterboy (black-ish)
- Motif yarn should be same yarn weight and type as MC (all non-superwash or all superwash). No need for a companion strand if the gauge matches.
Needle size
Always use a needle size that gives you the design gauge.
- 1 US #7/4.5 mm circular needle, 40 inch/100 cm for body and for
sleeves (magic loop) - 1 US #6/4 mm circular needle, 40 inch/100 cm for ribbing
- 1 US #4/3.5 mm circular needle, 40 inch/100 cm for turtleneck
- US #7/4.5 mm double pointed needles or short circulars for sleeves (optional)
- US #6/4 mm double pointed needles or short circulars for ribbing (optional)
- 1 US #1 or 2/2.5 mm crochet hook (for picking up sts and provisional cast-on); exact size not important
Notions
- locking stitch markers
- scrap yarn for holding neck sts
- darning needle for seaming
- small darning needle or large sharp needle for embroidery
- 1-2 sheets water soluble embroidery stabilizer, such as Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch
