Flora the Bitty Flamingo
Meet Flora the Bitty Flamingo. When you’re as pink as she is, you tend to draw a lot of attention. But she doesn’t mind! In fact, she finds it quite fun to be in the spotlight.
Flora can be made in any yarn and hook combination you want. Just be certain that the fabric is firm enough that stuffing does not show through.
I’ve made samples in two different sizes. The worsted weight version is made using a 4.0 mm (G) hook and Knit Picks Brava Worsted in 3 different colors. The DK weight version is made using 2.25 mm (B) hook and Paintbox Yarn Cotton DK in 3 different colors. You only need a small amount of each color; perfect for using up scraps!
Sample 1
- Color 1: Cotton Candy (45 yards)
- Color 2: Asphalt Heather (10 yards)
- Color 3: Rouge (5 yards)
Sample 2
- Color 1: Blush Pink (35 yards)
- Color 2: Slate Grey (less than 5 yards)
- Color 3: Bubblegum Pink (less than 5 yards)
Flora the Bitty Flamingo is an intermediate-level pattern. Skills you will need include single crochet, half-double crochet, slip stitches, increases, decreases, working in the top and bottom of a foundation chain, crocheting through both layers to finish, joining pieces together, and some seaming.
The pattern is 8-pages long and has plenty of progress photos to help you along your way to making your own very flamboyant flamingo.
