Let me propose a game: before starting your cowl, your leg warmers or your hat, knit as swatch as explained below in these instructions and use it as a lavender sachet (or as whatever you would like, but give your swatches good use!).
SKILLS
To knit this mini-cushions or sachets, you need to know how to knit, to purl, to cast on stitches with any method, to bind off stitches with the kitchener method and to work in the round in magic loop. Moreover, it is essential to be able to work stranded colourwork following charted instructions.
CONSTRUCTION
These mini-cushions or sachets are worked in the round, top-down, and seamlessly. It is recommended to work them on magic loop, or with 23 cm 9”-cable short needles. The pattern is not written for double pointed needles, but if you would rather work with them, you may do so.
GAUGE

NEEDLES

This pattern is adjustable, by working more or less chart repeats, you can obtain taller or shorter mini-cushions. To make them narrower or wider, you need to subtract or add one or two times the chart repeat stitches when casting on.
