Flight Pin
by Mary Forte
The lace motif in the Flight Pin Sweater is an enlarged version of a traditional honeybee pattern. With further adjustments, it looks like flight crew wings. Consequently, this sweater is named as a tribute to my mom, who served as a flight attendant in the late 1950s. Flight attendants welcomed the jet age with their smart pillbox hats, sleek uniforms, and winged pins.
In the spirit of the fine tailoring of a 1950s stewardess uniform, this pattern features set-in sleeves with full-fashioned shaping and a hint of waist shaping.
