This easy stitch pattern from 1912 Fleisher’s Knitting and Crocheting Manual, p.173 was intended for a shawl but you can use it for whatever comes to mind. There are 4 easy pattern rows: one row is “knit across” and another is “purl across”. There’s a repeat of 2 stitches + 2 edge stitches.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, M1 (see note), k2tog and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

44 yards of Knit Picks’ CotLin yarn will make 10 inches of a 24-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
