Get your colorwork fix with this quick and striking cowl. Bold neutrals in a heavy worsted yarn make this a go-with-everything accessory for the winter months. It’s a great first colorwork project, too! The purl ridges between ribbing and colorwork sections can act as a turning row for an alternate way of styling the cowl. Just turn one or both ribbing sections to the inside of the cowl for a shorter cowl or to emphasize the colorwork.

About 18” (45.5 cm) circumference, and 9¼“ (23.5 cm) high.

Worsted weight (#4 medium).

NEEDLES
Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm): preferred needles for working in the round.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS
Stitch marker (m); tapestry needle.

GAUGE
20 sts and 24 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Radius patt after blocking.

NOTES
-Cowl is worked in the round from bottom to top.
-If you find your colorwork section is drawing in compared to the ribbing, use a larger needle size over two-color rounds.
-Hold the Contrast Color dominant throughout the two-color section of this cowl.
-There’s no need to catch floats during this color chart, but to improve even tension and avoid bunching, spread the stitches out on the right needle (the stitches already worked) as you work.
