GENERAL INFORMATION
These socks are knitted from the cuff down and worked in the round to the heel. The heel flap is worked flat, and the heel turn is made using short rows. Stitches are picked up along the sides of the heel flap, then joined and worked in the round again. The gusset is formed by working decreases on both sides of the foot. The foot is worked in the round to the toe where decreases shape the toe. Then toe stitches are grafted closed using a modified Kitchener stitch.
These socks are designed to fit with negative ease. Choose a size with a finished foot circumference measurement that is approximately 1 inch / 2.5 cm smaller than your actual foot circumference, so that the sock will fit snugly. The lengths of the cuff, ankle, and foot are easily customizable by knitting more or fewer rounds. You can also start on larger needles if you have larger ankles.
MATERIALS
Recommended yarn: The Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK. 100g / 3.5oz, 240m / 263yds.
Or any Sport / DK weight yarn that matches gauge.
Note: MC is for the cuff, pattern and toe, CC is the colour of the foot of the sock.
For two socks with the same MC and CC (gold foot)
MC (grey): Child (58 m / 63 yds), Small (78 m / 85 yds), Medium (102 m / 112 yds), Large (122 m / 133 yds).
CC (gold): Child (132 m / 144 yds), Small (178 m / 195 yds), Medium (231 m / 253 yds), Large (278 m / 304 yds).
For socks with the colourways reversed (see gold/grey socks)
MC (grey): Child (95 m / 104 yds), Small (128 m / 140 yds), Medium (166 m / 182 yds), Large (200 m / 219 yds).
CC (gold): Child (95 m / 104 yds), Small (128 m / 140 yds), Medium (166 m / 182 yds), Large (200 m / 219 yds).
Use the yarn requirements as a guide. They assume you make the sock to the stated size (see below) but the sock can be adjusted to fit, which may increase or decrease yarn requirements depending on the changes you make.

2.75 mm (US 2) main needles or size required to obtain gauge.
3.0 mm (US 2½) needles for mosaic pattern.
Beginning of round removable stitch marker, needle to sew in ends. `
GAUGE
28 sts x 38 rounds for 4 inches / 10 cm using 2.75 mm (US 2) in stockinette st, after washing and drying flat.
SIZE
Child, (Adult S, M, L): Cuff/foot circumference: 6¾ (7¾, 8½, 9½) inches / 17 (19.5, 21, 24) cm.
