Kristie Sherrodd makes earflap hats which she sells at craft fairs and local stores in Sitka, Alaska.

The pattern given here is for the yellow and white hat with hearts on page 51, made from 100% Romney wool and dyed with two batches of onion skins with alum and cream of tartar plus another lot of rusty orange from Lobaria lichen with no mordant.

Materials: About 5 oz wool or mixed fibers, spun and plied to about 800 yds/lb; sixe 8 dp needles.
