A friend brought some Mondim yarn from a trip to Lissabon qnd I knew two things: It had to become socks, and they had to include a lot of colourwork. The colours reminded me of the sea I live close to: green seaweed, dark blue sea, white foam. A swarm of fish surrounded by green weeds, lots of easy to remember colourwork and frequent colour changes to keep the knitting interesting make these socks a quick, fun project.

Materials
• approx. 50g of MC yarn (natural)
• approx. 30g of CC1 yarn (green)
• approx. 30g of CC2 yarn (navy)
• 2.5mm DPNs or needles for magic loop or size required to get gauge
• tapestry needle, stitch marker (optional)
The pattern is written for knitting on DPNs, but can easily be adjusted to your favourite style of knitting socks.

The sample was knit in Mondim by Retrosaria. Any regular fingering weight sock yarn in solid or semisolid colours will work well. Using variegated contrast colours might also lead to interesting results, but keep the contrast to the background high enough.

As this is a free pattern, it comes in only one size, approx. size 40 European with a foot circumference of approx. 20cm. You can knit it more tightly or losely to adjust the fit or even leave out a pattern repeat.
