Springtime brings sunshine, and those first signs of nature awakening, but it can still be a little chilly. Using less than 50 g of DK, this headband uses short rows and a textured stitch pattern to help keep you cosy on those cooler days. The head band is worked flat and seamed at the centre back.

Needles: 3.5 mm / US size 4 needles for working flat.

Yarn: 35 (40, 45) g double knitting weight yarn, 225 m per 100 g.
Sample shown in Wendy Ramsdale double knitting yarn, 100% wool, 112 m per 50 g in “3308- Richmond”.

Notions: Tapestry needle, four stitch markers.

Skills: Cast on, working flat, knit, purl, short rows, working stitches together, sewing seams (little ones), weaving in ends.

Gauge: 21 stitches and 48 rows over 10 cm in garter stitch.

Sizing: Pattern gives stitch counts for small (medium, large) adult size; approximately equivalent to 41 (46, 52) cm / 16 (18, 20 ¼)” knitted circumference. Aim for a size a little smaller than your actual measurements for a cosy, non-slip fit.
