Firefly Collection (Shepherd Book) - Walk in the World a While
Inspired by Shepherd Book, mysterious preacher-passenger on the ‘Serenity’ in Joss Whedon’s cult space-western ‘Firefly’, this medium-sized shawl has something of the Quaker plain dress sensibility to it whilst retaining enough features to please both the knitter and wearer. It builds from two lace edge strips that are ‘knit together’ in the middle. The lower edges of the triangle are then picked up and worked flat, back-and-forth, with a decreasing number of stitches, through a moss-stitch hearts motif panel and ending with a simple garter-stitch body that knits faster with every row. Instructions are written in full with adjunct charts. This pattern is rated as medium difficulty as it contains increases, decreases and yarn overs. Opt-in/ out instructions make for a simpler knit.
MATERIALS

16st x 24r = 10cm/ 4 inches over moss (seed) stitch after blocking. It is not essential to match the exact tension but is recommended to achieve the same size of shawl/ amount of yarn used.

Note to Beginner’s: KRT-k, KLT-k, KRT-p & KLT-p stitches can be substituted by Cable 2 Back (k1, k1), Cable 2 Front (k1, k1), Cable 2 Back (k1, p1) & Cable 2 Back (p1, k1) respectively to make Hearts Motif Panel easier if desired.
