This pattern is available for free.

I am offering this pattern up for free on my new Blog. Please come by and download the pattern and perhaps take a little time to read. If you like what you see I would love you to come by more often.

An unexpectedly interesting hat came out of a colour exercise. Serendipity in action.

I was playing around with a new yarn – Bio Shetland by BC Garn. I wanted to see how the colours played off of each other, so I started “scrolling” though, mixing up background and pattern – just to see how they blended – and completely fell in love with the results.

This is a one size fits all pattern. It is designed to be a little longer and slightly slouchy but could fit more like a traditional toque with the removal of one 7 row pattern repeat.

How to use this pattern.

I used 13 Bio Shetland colours - list of colours and Bio Shetland colour numbers is on the body chart.

Looking at the Filigree 1 chart, you will note that I have included 10 different 7 round patterns.
• The sample hat used the first 6 of the 7 round patterns.
• Use 1 of the 7 round patterns and repeat it 5 or 6 times.
• Use the last 5 or 6, 7 round pattern repeats.
• Pick and chose your pattern repeats.
• The crown requires 3 colours.
• Pick 3 or 4 colours and scroll (shift) them through the various positions in the pattern.
• This pattern is perfect for using of scraps of fingering weight yarns.
